Tropical Elopement in Sarasota, FL | Edna + Aaron
This is what it looks like when love prevails. Edna and Aaron faced multiple set backs and constant uncertainty, so they eventually chose a great option: just elope! Edna’s family lives in Columbia and are still unable to travel due to the state of the pandemic. We’re not sure what the next couple years will look like so Edna and Aaron decided to say their vows privately, in a backyard ceremony, and celebrate later when everyone can get together safely.
Edna is crafty little bean. She pulled all of this together, while keeping her budget low and manageable. Her dress was a magical Amazon find, the flowers were gifted by Aaron’s mother who literally purchased the bulk florals and made the arrangements herself, and even the cake was handmade by Edna! Every detail was intentional, thoughtful and perfectly placed. Their pets were in attendance, especially Riley who posted up under the cake, looking for leftovers. Aaron’s father officiated their ceremony and Edna’s whole family and closest friends were tuned in via streaming. Love prevails.
Edna’s father gave a beautiful toast, translated by her sister (though it’s absolutely worth mentioning that Edna’s father learned to say “her mother and I” in American English for the part of the ceremony when they’re asked “who gives this woman?”. So sweet!) and Edna cut into her perfect perfect cake of perfection. She could be a cake artists in a parallel life. We celebrated with dinner out by the beach, in the open gulf coast air. We had delicious cuban food and the same champagne sangria we had at our own wedding! YAS. We followed dinner up with cocktails and complimentary dessert at Whitney’s LBK here in Sarasota. That spot is my new favorite and I’m hesitant to even post it here because I want to keep it all to myself! We watched the sunset after their perfect elopement day and drove back with the windows down, music blasting, and our dear friends MARRIED in the backseat. Probably making out. Who’s to say.
